By the Russians themselves, Stolichnaya is seen as the ‘vodka of the people’.
Stolichnaya is the adjectival form of ‘stolitsa’, meaning ‘capital city’.
The currant label is already designed back in 1953, by the young Russian artist Andrey Johanson. He won the design competition that was launched amongst the Russian people.
In 2004 the first ultra-premium vodka was introduced: Stoli Elit. Produced according to the patented ‘freeze-filtration’ process.
